I have spent most of my professional life developing on the backend. I have worked mainly with JVM languages - Java, Scala, and Kotlin. I have most of my experience with Java, and most probably because of that, I would like to work with some other languages ;-). Java is a great language, and it gave me the foundation for further growth, but because of its backward compatibility, it lacks the potential of newer languages with more freedom. I like Kotlin very much. It is my current tool :-). I started using it before it was adopted officially by Google. I convinced two teams in two companies to ditch Java and switch to Kotlin. I also like Scala but couldn't get much experience with it. Scala has excellent support for Functional Programming. I want to join a strong team that would help me master FP with Scala. A few years ago, I started working with microservices. I worked with two approaches: the first based on synchronous communication via REST and the second on asynchronous message exchange via Kafka. I have seen a few good patterns and a few antipatterns.
