I am a software developer with a math background. 25+ years of developing and maintaining 3D applications (mostly CAD) in C/C++/C#. I grew the most professionally at PTC (two-thirds of my career). Extensively debugged, and came to own, a very complex mechanism (triangulation, used for both shaded display and export to several formats), learned and came to own quite a few others; also did lots of new development. The best example is probably "Shrinkwrap," also at PTC. Did the development, contributed a few ideas (thus earning joint credit for a couple of patents). Result: three separate methods of taking a complex model and producing a "light-weight" look-alike. Second-best example, at Ansys: a path-finding algorithm, subject to a certain rule. The existing algorithm often violated that rule, forcing users to fix the violations manually. I was asked to try to improve the algorithm to make violations less frequent; I came up with a way to make sure violations \*never\* happened. My co-workers would say my math background, and love of dogged debugging are my strengths.
