Modbus developer in South Africa (UTC+2)
The description that fits me best is a general problem solver. I enjoy difficult tasks that I can pour all my effort into. I gain competence in a subject much faster than my peers and take the lead on features to be added within the projects I work on. I feel deep fulfilment when I deliver what is required with the best quality possible. My current role is as a software developer working in warehouse management software at APEX RTS. The system that is developed in is MATFLO written in C. The current project that I am working on is the semi-automation of an online pharmacy which serves the private and public sector in South Africa. My role is the design and writing up of warehouse order processing interfaces and background processes from labelling to despatch. This work has me writing up code which creates user web pages using pre-made C function calls that build css and HTML files from template libraries. Necessary additions to the processes in the warehouse are the label and order manifest templates. Both are printed in the outbound processes (labelling and order bagging) and use zpl and HTML/css respectively, which I wrote. The system uses SOAP messages to communicate back and forth with the warehouse host system (not under our control), used for overall stock control. My previous role was in the defense industry. I was working on the software and the user application for the MIS 380 UAV Platform developed by MILKOR. The role relied on several languages and technologies including C/C++ and Labview. My first project was to develop an engine test bench software to be used in house for the testing and integration of engine (ROTAX 9is), engine management and control peripherals (ECU, EMU), and the test bench peripherals (MOXA IO, MOXA RS server, CANFlight module) servicing and monitoring things such as the ignition, fuel level sensor ambient temperature, throttle control, etc. The second project was continuing C++ library development for the UAV distributed systems. These libraries were developed using test driven development procedures with DOCTEST being the testing library used. The libraries were made using generics made using template classes that formed a framework in which data packing was done in the functions for encoding and decoding data strings. The last project was the development of a UAV testing software (user application run on a laptop) created in qt5++. This project was designed using OOP principles with each system agent being written up as an object. an example in this case being an ATC (air traffic control) radio or air flow sensor. The software allows the user to interface with the UAV through ethernet connection using UDP messages on the closed network. System peripherals are controllable and can be queried using the software through a user-friendly interactive UI made in the QT framework. Skills: C, Databases, Matflo, VSCode, Mercurial, css, html, zpl C++, Labview, .dll, RSxxx, CAN bus, Moxa IO, CANAerospace Learning: GOLang, Python 6+ years using Matlab Simulink for Postgrad research work Current educational undertaking Studying Part-Time toward a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. I am currently developing new technologies for the purpose of commercialization, as well as allowing our visualization of the electrical grid to evolve into one which resembles a highly dynamic, living system. My interests vary widely in the electrical engineering space, ranging from mechatronics to power electronics. My recent research has been aimed at generating novel Thévenin measurement techniques, apparatus, and their application in transmission and distribution. LV and MV distributed energy systems operation, coordination, and forecasting, are the spaces in which my research group is currently exploring. Modbus developer (UTC+3)
Wide-qualified professional with versatile skills and rich experience in software design/development, mostly related to enterprise-level ERP software systems (different domains: Retail, Education, Accounting, Betting, ...). Successfully worked in a lot of different positions, but the most appropriate is a kind of Software Architect or Tech/Team Lead for emerging products - I can start a new team, hire people, choose toolchain, establish architecture, knowledgebase and processes. Quick learner with outstanding communication, analytics, teaching, and system thinking skills. Outstanding personal engagement and outcomes quality, no matter – for coding, design, or presenting tasks. I began my career as an ordinary software developer (the bulk of my practice came to the .NET / Oracle platform), later becoming an architect, and later rose to the project/department manager, but realized that the engineering sphere is more interesting and fit me better than "pure management". However, I usually wear more than one "hat", playing several roles in new growing teams. Currently, I work as a Solution Architect in a leading Russian sports betting company My major hands-on experience was in the .NET tech stack and RDBMS, but I have enough background to manage Java or Web front-end projects and adopt any other technology in the shortest time in terms of hiring "right" people and make architectural decisions. Broad background knowledge of the full spectrum of modern software technologies/approaches/patterns - clouds, big data, web, containerization, microservices, security, etc. I have successful experience with implementing Agile approaches and adopting architectural design and management practices for the entire company. I participated in Russian software conferences (CEE SECR, Analyst Days) with reports according to various subjects. As a part-time parallel job, I've been working as a Trainer and a Lead Expert for Luxoft Professional Training Center for several years. I conducted dozens of courses and led some fairly large audit projects. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS * Amazon AWS Certified Solution Architect (Associate) * Luxoft Certified Trainer * Certified SCRUM Product Owner * MCPD: Windows Developer
