I've spent the last few years in the cybersecurity field, first at Cisco, where I contributed to the XDR Suite, their famed extended detection and response platform. I worked on several parts of the system, including the CTIA and CTIM - Cisco Threat Intelligence API and the model. I made some good improvements, such as boosting Elasticsearch's performance; added a bunch of features to project IROH (Incident Response Orchestration Hub); worked on dashboards that showed various stats on things like cybersecurity incidents; built a portal for Cisco TAC (Technical Assistance Center) reducing the number of incident escalations by 50%. Additionally, I built a management tool for our documentation team. I participated in an annual hackathon where I designed an unconventional and unique project that stood out among three hundred other submissions and made it all the way to the finals. In addition, I enrolled in the SANS SEC504 training course - Hacker Tools, Techniques, and Incident Handling. I finished the course, but unfortunately, I never got the chance to take the test and acquire a certificate, because the timing coincided with joining a startup. So the product might bump the price of entrees for a restaurant +-10% at Lunchtime and the Evenings depending on demand. Doordash doesn’t have a publicly accessible API, I wrote scripts that manually login to each restaurant, verify/update menu prices on the fly and save sessions once the Captcha is bypassed. Just making that Integration available to restaurants was a huge effort. In the end most clients adopted it and it was a big success! Mentoring younger developers / code reviews. I spend a lot of my time helping younger developers out when they are stuck and reviewing their code. Enforcing code standards is pretty important to me. It requires a lot of patience and kindness, especially when critiquing large merge requests knowing a younger developer spent a lot of time working on it. You have to have a delicate hand when tearing apart pull requests.
