Vetted Puppet developer in Canada (UTC-7)

Results-driven software engineer with ten years of experience building complex client-side web applications. Proficient in TypeScript, React, and user interfaces, I am dedicated to shipping quality software quickly while focusing on customer value and iterative development. I most grew professionally at Virgil Security. The cybersecurity startup I worked at from 2015 to 2019. During my time there I’ve acquired a broad experience with JavaScript and it’s ecosystem, have been responsible for the complete lifecycle of several projects, have led a team, have interviewed potential hires,  have maintained and authored open source projects, got familiar with cloud infrastructure, did customer support, and made some good friends. The biggest in terms of customer impact, probably was my contribution at DataRobot, where I have unblocked a project release by rewriting a complex UI component that was ridden with bugs and had terrible performance. At Wix I’ve made it easier for applicatioin developers to test their work by making a testing library. My approach to writing software is based on proven best practices. I strive to design programs, rather than tinker until the program seems to work. I write code for people to read and modify. To me, documentation and tests as crucial as the code itself. I thrive on taking ownership of projects and delivering features end-to-end. I hold myself to high standards, welcome feedback, and am dedicated to continuous learning and growth.

I've spent the last few years in the cybersecurity field, first at Cisco, where I contributed to the XDR Suite, their famed extended detection and response platform. I worked on several parts of the system, including the CTIA and CTIM - Cisco Threat Intelligence API and the model. I made some good improvements, such as boosting Elasticsearch's performance; added a bunch of features to project IROH (Incident Response Orchestration Hub); worked on dashboards that showed various stats on things like cybersecurity incidents; built a portal for Cisco TAC (Technical Assistance Center) reducing the number of incident escalations by 50%. Additionally, I built a management tool for our documentation team. I participated in an annual hackathon where I designed an unconventional and unique project that stood out among three hundred other submissions and made it all the way to the finals. In addition, I enrolled in the SANS SEC504 training course - Hacker Tools, Techniques, and Incident Handling. I finished the course, but unfortunately, I never got the chance to take the test and acquire a certificate, because the timing coincided with joining a startup. Command Zero was founded by some folks from Cisco, my former colleagues. There, I stayed in the cybersecurity field, building a product to assist cybersec analysts. Although my time there was short, I managed to enhance the performance of the CockroachDB-driven backend, added more monitoring tools, and integrated various metrics points into Prometheus that were visualized in Grafana. Unfortunately, the startup did hit some bumps, as VC-backed startups often do, so I left. Before all that, I worked in the Fintech industry where I mostly coded in Clojure and Clojurescript. Among many programming languages and stacks, Clojure today is the one in which I am most proficient. During my career, I also dove into projects using Javascript, TypeScript, Node.js-based backends, Python, Ruby, and some Golang. Even though it's been a while, I also have several years of experience writing C# code and played around with F# as well. A notable .NET project I've done is the entire rewrite of the video encoding engine for Vevo, improving its performance ten-fold and significantly bolstering the reliability of the entire system. I am an active open-source contributor with numerous unique projects, some have over five hundred stars on GitHub. Also, I am a multilingual person. Besides English, I'm fluent in Uzbek and Russian and understand Ukrainian, currently I'm actively trying to acquire Spanish.

Vetted Puppet developer in the United States (UTC-5)

Software Engineer with 8+ of Full Stack Javascript Development. I'm an expert in Node, Vanilla JS, React, HTML/CSS and AWS Microservices. I've worked all across the stack and have plenty of experience setting up / putting out fires in CI/CD pipelines. I grew the most at REVOLT TV. The tech department of the company was constantly fielding requests from other departments, we had to develop multiple internal APIs and dashboards for portions of the company that would otherwise never interact. Because of the constant development of new features, I’ve learned to prepare for technical debt and appreciate the purpose of strict coding standards. Sauce Pricing benefited the most from my contributions. Sauce is a product that adjusts pricing for restaurants on Ubereats, Doordash and Postmates during peak hours. So the product might bump the price of entrees for a restaurant +-10% at Lunchtime and the Evenings depending on demand. Doordash doesn’t have a publicly accessible API, I wrote scripts that manually login to each restaurant, verify/update menu prices on the fly and save sessions once the Captcha is bypassed. Just making that Integration available to restaurants was a huge effort. In the end most clients adopted it and it was a big success! Mentoring younger developers / code reviews. I spend a lot of my time helping younger developers out when they are stuck and reviewing their code. Enforcing code standards is pretty important to me. It requires a lot of patience and kindness, especially when critiquing large merge requests knowing a younger developer spent a lot of time working on it. You have to have a delicate hand when tearing apart pull requests.

Why hire a Puppet developer?

In today’s world, most companies have code-based needs that require developers to help build and maintain. For instance, if your business has a website or an app, you’ll need to keep it updated to ensure you continue to provide positive user experiences. At times, you may even need to revamp your website or app. This is where hiring a developer becomes crucial.

Depending on the stage and scale of your product and services, you may need to hire a Puppet developer, multiple engineers, or even a full remote developer team to help keep your business running. If you’re a startup or a company running a website, your product will likely grow out of its original skeletal structure. Hiring full-time remote Puppet developers can help keep your website up-to-date.

While you can find Puppet developers on general platforms, top tech talents generally avoid general marketplaces in order to escape bidding wars.

If you’re looking to hire the best remote Puppet developers, consider niche platforms like Arc that naturally attract and carefully vet their Puppet developers for hire. This way, you’ll save time and related hiring costs by only interviewing the most suitable remote Puppet developers.

Some factors to consider when you hire Puppet developers include the platform’s specialty, developer’s geographical location, and the service’s customer support. Depending on your hiring budget, you may also want to compare the pricing and fee structure.

Make sure to list out all of the important factors when you compare and decide on which remote developer job board and platform to use to find Puppet developers for hire.

How do I write a Puppet developer job description?

Writing a good Puppet developer job description is crucial in helping you hire Puppet developers that your company needs. A job description’s key elements include a clear job title, a brief company overview, a summary of the role, the required duties and responsibilities, and necessary and preferred experience. To attract top talent, it's also helpful to list other perks and benefits, such as flexible hours and health coverage.

Crafting a compelling job title is critical as it's the first thing that job seekers see. It should offer enough information to grab their attention and include details on the seniority level, type, and area or sub-field of the position.

Your company description should succinctly outline what makes your company unique to compete with other potential employers. The role summary for your remote Puppet developer should be concise and read like an elevator pitch for the position, while the duties and responsibilities should be outlined using bullet points that cover daily activities, tech stacks, tools, and processes used.
