LA native now living in SD! I transitioned from a science degree at UCSD into teaching myself how to program and have grown from a software tester into a senior software engineer over the course of 5 years. Getting out of a rut as a beginner is hard and there is no real guidance on how to become a mid-level or senior engineer in most places. Whether you're starting out your career or finding yourself in a rut, I have encountered all of the above many times (personally and through others) and want to help others level up their way! My experiences in teaching a fullstack bootcamp course, founding the internship program at my company, and providing guidance and support to the newer engineers there has not only shown me that I enjoy the process of mentoring... but that my mentees think I am pretty good at it :)

I am a senior software engineer/team-lead/software architect and software evangelist. I am excited about my work and the absolutely amazing advances happening everyday in the developer’s behind-the-scenes world within computing. I take a research-scientist attitude toward everyday tasks, and compile and distribute technical findings and solutions as they are relevant to the team and larger software community. I am a practicing student of software craftsmanship, Kathy Sierra, Edward Tufte, and human-computer-interaction. Giving users the ability to be awesome is a primary directive in my work.
