SchoolJoy is a forward-thinking education technology startup working on improving school engagement through intuitive digital solutions. As we prepare to scale, we are looking for a talented Frontend Developer to help continue building elegant, user-centered interfaces that power our platform.

Role Overview

We are seeking a frontend-focused developer with strong experience in Angular and a sharp eye for design execution. You will play a key role in implementing UI based on Figma designs and contributing to the quality and responsiveness of our product, in close collaboration with our distributed team in Taipei, New York, and California.

Responsibilities

• Convert Figma mockups into high-quality, pixel-perfect Angular components
• Build and maintain responsive user interfaces with performance and UX in mind
• Collaborate with backend developers and product designers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless UI/UX
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on technical implementation
• Proactively communicate with the team via Slack and async tools
• Engage in a test-based hiring process that involves both task completion and code review feedback

Must-Have Qualifications

• Proven experience with Angular (latest versions)
• Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and responsive design
• Ability to take Figma designs and convert them to accurate, responsive web components
• Excellent communication skills, especially in async collaboration tools like Slack
• Availability for at least 4 hours/day overlap with U.S. Eastern Time
• Comfortable working independently with strong attention to visual details

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with FastAPI, Python, or PHP (our backend stack)
• Experience working with webhooks
• Prior exposure to systems built with PHP or Python
• Background working on small teams or startups with cross-functional collaboration
• Passion for thoughtful design, UX, and aesthetic precision
