Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Payment Processing Developer with specialized expertise in high-risk industries to design and build a secure card payment system from the ground up. This project involves working with a client in the gold and diamond trading sector, requiring in-depth knowledge of acquirer requirements and compliance challenges. This is a freelance, project-based role.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop a custom card payment system tailored for high-risk industries.
• Provide expert advice on acquirer requirements and compliance considerations.
• Implement secure transaction flows, robust fraud prevention measures, and scalability features.
• Deliver a fully functional system remotely, ensuring performance is measured by successful delivery.
• Optionally provide ongoing support through flexible contract extensions.

Required Skills

• Payment Systems Development: Expertise in end-to-end card payment architecture, transaction routing, and settlement flows.
• PCI DSS Compliance: Ability to design systems that adhere to strict security standards.
• Fraud Detection & Risk Management: Proficiency in tools and algorithms for chargeback prevention, anomaly detection, and KYC/AML compliance.
• Integration Expertise: Experience working with acquirers, gateways, and card networks like Visa and Mastercard.
• Backend Development: Strong skills in Java, Node.js, or Python for secure transaction logic.
• Database Management: Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL for transaction records, and NoSQL for logs.
• API Development: Experience with RESTful and SOAP APIs for external integrations.
• Encryption & Security: Knowledge of TLS/SSL, tokenization, HSM integration, and secure key management.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with AWS or equivalent for hosting, scaling, and monitoring.
• Version Control: Proficiency with Git/GitHub for secure code management.

• Blockchain/Smart Contracts: Experience with crypto payments or tokenized assets.
