Senior Full-Stack Developer – Marketplace Data Aggregation (Contract)

Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Full-Stack Developer to build a trading card price monitoring website (initially focused on Pokémon) that aggregates pricing data from multiple marketplaces, including TCGplayer (US), Cardmarket (EU), eBay, Amazon, and a Japanese Pokémon marketplace. This is a data-heavy project involving API integrations and/or scraping, matching the same cards across platforms despite different naming conventions, sets, languages, and regional condition standards (e.g., US “LP” vs EU “Excellent”), and displaying marketplace-specific prices (no averaging) in a clean, filterable web interface with text search and homepage views such as “top movers.” We are non-technical founders and value clear communication, practical trade-offs, and a working MVP over design polish.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a full-stack web application (backend + frontend)
• Aggregate pricing data from multiple marketplaces via APIs and/or scraping
• Normalize and match cards across inconsistent data sources
• Implement condition mapping across regions
• Build search, filtering, and basic homepage views
• Set up scheduled data refreshes
• Document assumptions, limitations, and setup clearly

Required Experience & Skills

• Strong full-stack development experience (Python or Node.js preferred)
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and/or building reliable scrapers
• Experience working with messy, inconsistent marketplace or e-commerce data
• Database design experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)
• Modern frontend framework experience (React, Next.js, Vue, etc.)
• Ability to explain technical decisions in plain English

Nice to Have

• Marketplace, pricing, or inventory system experience
• Product matching or data normalization experience
• Familiarity with trading cards or collectibles
