Web developer, contractor. Primarily focused on building Ember.js applications and JSON APIs with Ruby on Rails. Lead developer and manager, of a small team. We built internal web applications for the agency, including enterprise data/asset management systems for marketing operations and software to support IT and HR organizations. We built solutions using Ruby on Rails and Ember.js frameworks.

Using Ember.js and Ruby on Rails frameworks, I built internal tools as web applications for the agency’s enterprise data systems. I contributed some of our (sharable) solutions to the Ember Data project, and published a couple micro-libraries on github for sharing within the Ember.js community.

Developer (Freelance)

I had the privilege of contributing to the next generation of VerticalResponse's industry leading email marketing and social platform. I developed features for their web application using Ember.js and Ruby on Rails frameworks. As a (remote) member of the team I solved many browser compatibility issues that arose from rapid development to meet goals for a beta launch. I worked on the upgrading users' HTML editing experience within the beta product, also adding tests to an critical portion of the application written with no test coverage.

Senior Software Engineer

Worked (on the agency side of Fluid, Inc.) as lead software engineer for a high profile client. I was responsible for the build of a data-driven JavaScript application and the API to drive the application from the server. Technologies: Backbone.js, Dust.js, Underscore.js, jQuery, PHP, CSS, LESS, Grunt, Jasmine.

I was responsible for: developing new application features with object-oriented JavaScript (based on JSON data from a Web service), creating and debugging JavaScript/HTML/CSS code for new and existing components, and designing software architecture for front-end framework extensions and improvements. I led a project using mobile 1st approach for ecommerce application using Backbone.js, RequireJS, Jasmine, and helped our (agile) team to follow BDD principles of writing stories. We built rapid prototype with jQuery Mobile as proof of concept helping design group to follow concepts in responsive layout (used Foundation CSS). I led a migration within our (web) engineering group to adopting behavior-driven developemnt (BDD); and trained the front-end development team in Jasmine, BDD and Backbone.js. Unfortunately, we abandoned the mobile web project, then released the front-end framework as open source project: Vertabrae, see: https://github.com/hautelook/vertebrae I contributed to Hautelooktech.com blog with articles on RequireJS and our Vertabrae project.

Senior UI Architect

I developed a JavaScript library and suite of client-side software for shopper experiences serving various clients on an ecommerce platform. I focussed on user experience and performance. I Integrated a CMS application to run along side our ecommerce platform, providing a 'branded' site for companies in the fashion business. I developed features compatible with modern devices: iPad, iPhone (targeting shoppers and brand loyalist on mobile browsers). I developed features (extending open source software) for interactive product details pages and shopable lookbooks. I created a solution for a 'branded' ecommerce experience by adapting Concrete5 CMS to work along side our Commerce platform. I built library of JavaScript solutions for various re-usable components, e.g. coupon codes, exact target tracking, color thumbnails and sizing swatches on product details pages. I created a custom commerce template as boilerplate for client implementations. I embedded an online store into a Facebook app. I onboarded and led front-end developers and was responsible for projects starting from design to delivery (contracted design and some engineering)

I focused on Web development contact work for US based small businesses and agencies. Web application development and user experience design for ecommerce and content management solutions. JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Linux. Build with open source applications: Magento, WordPress, Concrete5, and custom development using the Ruby on Rails framework. I contributed to section to a book "Backbone Fundamentals" by Addy Osmani: Optimize and Build a Backbone.js JavaScript application with RequireJS using Packages. I assisted many small business owners to begin using web technologies to reach clients on the internet. My blog pixelhandler.com is a result of the effort of taking the risk of self employment and captures the transition in my career from design to software engineering. My article, "Develop a RESTful API Using Node.js With Express and Mongoose", was useful to help engineers understand REST and new technology (MongoDB, Node.js) and after a couple years still captures 75% of 13K montly unique pageviews on my blog.

Principal Developer

I developed ecommerce applications for Microsoft software products, Microsoft Home Users Program, Office for Mac, Windows 7 Student Promotions. I worked as a front-end web developer and help to create style guides, wireframes and on also designed a promotional site for Windows 7 with focus on user experience (previously worked as a web designer). I delivered high performance sites for a global market (with high loads on server architecture) and also integrated custom solutions across multiple domains / organizations. For the student promotion of Windows 7, I developed the fastest performing application on Digital River's JVM. Also I had to struggle though internal politics to get dedicated hardware. Developed a 2 step global software trial experience, partnering with the agency serving the Microsoft Office for Mac business unit. Their application consumed the trial form leading to 35 locales enabling the first step to happen upstream on the Microsoft.com domain. Then the second step completing the software download on Digital River's domain. During the Office 2010 product launch, Microsoft's OEM business needed a solution for electronic downloads of their Office product, the software was not bundled with all vendors. I contributed to the success and on-time release which otherwise would have result in significant loss of business.

I focused on both Web design and development. I particiated in decisions regarding ecommerce, internet marketing, search engine marketing and optimization. I integrated open source (CRM) technologies which streamlined the online marketing effort to reach athletic trainers for both pro and college teams. I built a custom ecommerce application on LAMP that targeted consumers and patients with prescriptions (VQ Orthocare is a medical device manufacturer). We launched an ecommerce application ahead of VQ Orthocare's competitors. I designed and developed a solution for meeting both HIPPA and PCI compliance requirements for patients to receive automatic shipments of supplies by signing up online. I utilized open source client relationship management (CRM) software, for new marketing campaigns which integrated with a microsite for business development and email marketing using both the CRM and custom ecommerce application. I helped the sales team to track who opened email and linked athletic trainers (prospects) to personalized landing pages with a custom sports team specific to their organization.
