I have used python as a general purpose programming language for data analysis, hardware interfacing, text processing, figure generation and process scripting since beginning my PhD in quantum technologies, and continue to do so in my career as a freelance hardware product developer.

Besides many microcontrollers having well supported c-oriented programming libraries, I have used C and C++ in PC applications as both interfaces to hardware and to design very fast data analysis algorithms optimised for extremely high throughput of data.

I worked for 6 years in a quantum physics laboratory developing sensor and feedback applications used to precisely control the output of the lasers required to trap single atoms for quantum computing applications. Much of this work was accomplished using a broad range of custom microcontroller solutions and home-made electronics.
