Coviu is a health platform that allows software developers to add their own software on to the platform, making it accessible to Coviu's users (health professionals and their patients).

I created two addons:
- One for speech pathologists to more easily evaluate a child's language fundamentals. This addon is now used for other assessments (children and adults) as well.
- One for professional development of donation-specialist nursing coordinators. This addons is now used for general video recording and playback during a call.

IT Contractor

Responsibilities as a developer: 

- Improved internal tools used by the project management team.
- Created a proof of concept for a progressive web app for a client. For the final deliverable, implemented backend functions, website security, and AWS integration.
- Developed a web app for a client, implementing the theme for the end users' interface, matching the client's style guide and current website.

Robotics Tech Lead Responsibilities: 

- Liaised with the client and hardware suppliers to define the product and its capabilities.

Responsibilities: 

- Improving how a transport management centre is notified of stationary vehicles in clearways, transit lanes or bus lanes.

Lead AI and Machine Learning Engineer

As a software developer working in the team, responsible for creative input into the trip planning algorithms, and developing them in an object-oriented, scalable, and maintainable way, but also spearheaded the distribution of these modules in such a way that they can be scaled and hosted on cloud or colo. The software that I design and develop provides the highly reliable, low cost transportation solutions to the TripGo applications. Hundreds of thousands of users utilize our software for planning their local trips.

As DevOps specialist, moved from cloud to colo in 2013, saving the company about 55% of our hosting fees at the time. Saved another 40% in hosting fees in 2016 by moving colos. The systems architecture I designed and built has performed exceedingly well. There is no known single-point-of-failure and there have only been two severity 1 issues during my six years being responsible for site/app reliability.

As product manager, accountable for the success and scale of the TripGo Android app. I own the overall product roadmap and vision of the Android apps, as well as ideating and launching new features to scale and grow the user base. I regularly reported on the progress of development to the executives so that they can make business decisions based on the allocations and what is possible when. When making decisions, I took into consideration the entire team's opinions, experiences, and knowledge.

As a sales representative, led the submission on SkedGo's first two government contracts, and also acted as the engineering manager to get these delivered.

- Assisted with documentation and testing of the new open data portal and new data sets http://opendata.transport.nsw.gov.au/ 
- Wrote scripts to convert large datasets to a usable format
- Taught web development to the Open Data team, covering HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Also covered the Google Maps JavaScript API

IT Contractor and Teacher

Started a project in 2013 to solve a problem I had for myself. Now a major shareholder in 3 small companies, not including my contracting business.

Taught myself HTML in the 90s, and JavaScript in 2000 to make a webpage as a birthday present for a relative. Been making web applications ever since and taught myself React in 2017 while building a marketplace for a relative. Replaced my [company's] website from vanilla javascript to React. Have done several projects with React since, and wouldn't recommend anything else. No experience with Redux, though.

Wrapped 3 webapps with cordova since 2016. The Android 5+ version of each app is currently 1MB. Android 4.0-4.4 versions include chromium 53 from 2017. Developed an ionic4+capacitor+react app in 2020. All apps are fully served from the webapp over https. Updates can be done to the webapp without pushing a new version through the stores.

Was introduced to Django in 2008 as part of the computing students' club. These days I don't really use the templates and make heavy use of the ORM and rest framework.

Pursued a AI degree in 2007 which included a machine learning component. Have completed projects in predicting rental yield for investment properties, image classification, and am currently working on a project to automatically detect parking violations.

Learned Java 1.2 at university in 1999 and use it primarily for complex algorithms as it is higher level than C/C++ and the just-in-time compiler solves the majority of necessary low-level performance optimizations.

Learned C++ in 1997 while still in high school. Still use it today for robotics and embedded systems applications.
