Freelance Programmer / Writer

I created a modern UI engine, the heart of Fuse's cross-tool development platform. It
combined a trigger based animation system, intuitive layout for responsive design, as well
as a reactive data model for dynamic applications.

The graphics work gave me a chance to further explore mathematics to render and animate
vector and 3D graphics.

I created the Leaf programming language. Leaf is the language we always wanted. Drawing from a half century’s worth of collective knowledge, Leaf incorporates the best ideas into a unified whole. A language with the willingness to rebuild everything and examine the deep foundations of every issue.

Leaf Language Designer

At Cliqz we were creating a new search engine to compete with Google in Germany. Lots of automation and deployment. I also worked with Mozilla on their SocialAPI experiment.

Large scale search and distributed computation technologies are my focus.

I programmed a financial trading platform. This was a peer-to-peer trading platform with a multi- user graphical front-end. I wrote financial strategies, the distributed computing environment, and the trader interface.

Platform Programmer

This was a poker training website. I did flash game programming and I wrote the content management system. This included FaceBook and Twitter integration. I authored many articles on poker.

BigTPoker Programmer

I lead the quality effort at this email services company. Structuring the entire development
was a key part of my work in process management.

I built-up the testing team and developed TestPlan for them. It is an automated testing platform. The high-level language allowed rapid test creation, execution in multiple browser engines, and integration with external services.

Defining SLA terms and measuring compliance was also in my area. Along with it I built an automated fault detection and alert system.

I use Python on several projects, including a document processor, and utility library. I've written many micro-services with Python, usually with Flask for HTTP. I keep my knowledge up-to-date and tend to use mypy and annotations now.

I've been fortunate to work in many fields requiring a lot of algorithm design and implementation. This includes 3D graphics, financial calculations, some physics, and lots of data structure optimizations.

I've done many projects in C++, including my Leaf compiler.

I like front-end development and have done desktop apps, web apps, and mobile apps. I'm well attuned to user experience and can work well with graphic designers.

Part of core team implementing a distributed trading platform. I was primarily responsible for the agent system design as well as strategy execution. I additionally work on the high-performance UI.


I wrote a programming language parser for the Leaf compiler. I transformed source code,  complete with compound and complex expressions, into abstract syntax trees.

I've been using CSS since it's inception and grown through the various revisions. Today I maintain a few responsive static sites, custom servers, and WordPress hosted sites.

I maintain my own Edaqa's Kitchen and Interview.Codes in WordPress. These use semi-managed hosting on SiteGround. I use Elementor as my template design tool, along with custom CSS and my own plugin for additional short-codes.

I have my own markdown-like document processor which I use to automate some WordPress publishing, including ACF data, and soon Yoast SEO fields.

I've used WordPress.com's services for over 10 years on my main blog site mortoray.com.

I've used Flask as an API and app server for numerous client projects, including integration with finance platforms, and document generation.

I've written an introductory class on Flask for LinkedIn Learning (waiting on publicaion).

At Fuse I wrote an animation and layout system.  This including 3D viewports, as well as bezier line animations.

For eCircle I wrote a custom TestPlan language that integrated Java and Selenium web drivers to automated testing. For Cliqz I wrote various scraping agents to collect information for a search database.

SQL DB's were used as backing stores for many of my positions. My most complete experience comes from eCircle where SQL DBs were used to track ERP records, calculate SLA reports and run the issue system.

At Cliqz we built a search engine on AWS. This included the client facing web sites, document retrieval, and machine learning, classification, and search engines.  Deployment was automated.
