Initially launched as a free, crowd-sourced traffic alert system, road.lk quickly gained immense popularity. Even after the formal availability of Google Maps traffic reports in Sri Lanka, road.lk continued to thrive. Over time, the company expanded its offerings to include a carpool service. In developing our platform, we leveraged a range of innovative and diverse technologies, resulting in a dynamic and exciting product.

Founder Chief Software Architect

As the designer and lead implementer, I oversaw the development of Rad Inks&#x27; product line, which featured a SFTP applet and a File Uploader applet. When these products were initially launched, many experts considered them to be impossible to build. However, we successfully engineered and delivered these products to market, earning a reputation for innovation and technical excellence. Our client list grew to include industry leaders such as IBM, Warner Brothers, Sony, Turner Broadcasting, SmugSmug, and Accenture, among others.

After graduating, I joined Mediasolv and established a team that expanded from a one-person operation to eleven at its peak. Many of the recruits were raw youngsters and I mentored them and set them on their path to be seasoned industry professionals.The company&#x27;s goal was to create a comprehensive B2C portal with an extensive range of groupware and messaging features, which later evolved into a fully-fledged product.Notably, our portal included a standout social feature, the &quot;refrigerator,&quot; which predated Facebook&#x27;s wall by several years. Additionally, we were among the early adopters of Jabber, which went on to become the widely used XMPP protocol. Thus we predated google chat by a few years as well.Sure! Here&#x27;s a possible rephrased version:In addition to developing B2C portals and groupware systems, the company also had a presence in the embedded systems space. My proficiency in C programming meant that I was frequently called upon to assist in critical situations. I was brought in more than once to troubleshoot and resolve issues, leveraging my skills to ensure that projects were delivered successfully.

I've been using Java since it's earliest versions. Wrote a series of ground breaking applets that were considered to have been impossible to write. These applets were licensed by several fortune 500 companies.

This is my favourite language. I Have a gold badges for both python and django on stackoverflow.

I first wrote Javascript on a Netscape Navigator.

It's astonishing how often people save delimited values in database fields! Or forget to create indexes. 

I first learnt C around 1989 used it exclusively till about 1997 then used it regulary till 2001. In that time I worked on embedded systems and IOT nearly 20 years before the term was even defined! Since i joined codementor, i have started to use C again on a regular basis.


Similar to the story with C i used it from around 1996 to 2002 but didn't use it again regularly until I joined codementor


When I first learnt PHP it was still sometimes called Personal Home Page Parser and was in version 3.x  those days mysql_* was the only API for mysql and php and mysql were often spoken of in the same breath. Today I am astonished to see people still using that mysql API and even those using mysqlI_* or PDO still use string concatenation in their queries instead of prepared statements.


I regularly handle postgresql and mysql administration tasks and often have had to install/configure manage apache and nginx as wel. Over a long career i have dealt with various servers setups including IMAP, SMTP, POP mail servers, memcached, redis etc. Most of this on linux which I have been using almost exclusively since around the year 2000.

My favourite cloud plaform is AWS. 

I have helped with literally thousands of tasks involving abstract data structures and/or algorithms. AVLs, Tries, Graphs,  Hashtables, Cryptography Mazes and adversarial search are just some of the things i have helped with.
