In 2015 I joined our Enterprise Architecture team. Since then, I have helped teams adopt Microsoft Azure and DevOps solutions that lowers the cycle time for teams to implement business solutions. I have helped mentor teams to adapt from a traditional on-premise data center and learn the skills they need to be successful in a cloud environment without the support of infrastructure teams.

Enterprise Architect

Managed a team responsible for the enablement of I.T. process automation and DevOps. We focused in lowering the cognitive load of teams trying to implement and support solutions in production. 

I focused on enabling the team by giving them the resources and time they needed to learn new technologies and work practices that helped us become more agile. Creating a culture of learning and safety allowed us to adapt to the changing need of the organization while still regularly delivering value.

DevOps Manager

Supported the Windows Server infrastucture in corporate locations and remote offices and stores. Implemented virtualization with VMware in 2008, achieved 99% virtualization by 2012. Implemented and managed NetApp storage appliance. Implemented rapid disaster recovery solutions and practices when a second data center was implemented in 2009. Migrated on-premise Exchange to Office 365. Implemented identity management automation and workflows. Implemented Windows Azure Pack for a cloud like environment for developer virtual workstations in 2014.

Windows Server Engineer

Developed several systems and was the first team to adopt .NET/C# and also formed a center of practice when the company was switching from ASP/C++ to .NET/C#.

Developer

Since 2015, I have been helping teams architect and develop solutions on Azure. With a focus on platform-as-a-service and serverless technologies, I have helped teams design cost effective, scalable, and reliable solutions on Azure.

Since the 2006 beta of PowerShell (Monad) I have been leveraging scripting to automate any area of infrastructure and application management where possible.

From 2010 to 2015 I was responsible for managing identity management synchronization and workflows 50,000+ identities. My passion for PowerShell at the time resulted in the creation of a PowerShell scripting extension for FIM/MIM that allows rules and logic to be run in PowerShell scripts allowing for quick and easy identity automation. https://github.com/smokedlinq/MIM-PowerShell

Since 2018 I have been using markdown in my GIT repos and on Azure DevOps wikis for internal team documentation. In 2019 at our team established an I.T. documentation site that is based on DocFX which leverages markdown articles to help all engineers in I.T. have a single place to learn and share best practices, patterns, and solutions in a professional format.
