I was working at SLAC in various developer roles for the last 20 years. Usually I interact with scientists and students and help them solve their software issues or develop software for them.

Information Systems Specialist

I started writing serious C++ projects in 90s and continued working with it through all versions of standard. C++ is a complex language with many features and I found that it takes great effort to keep code understandable, will be happy to share my experience.

My experience with Python started with version 1.5.2 which was probably the first usable release of Python. Since then I used Python in countless small and large project. As a platform it has its limitations but a combination of Python and C++ could probably solve almost all problems. I also implemented Python bindings for C++ using Python C API, Boost.Python, Swig, pybind11.

Relational databases are essential tool in the modern applications. My experience started with MySQL about 25 years ago when it was still a company. Over the years I worked in projects that used Oracle and PostgreSQL. 

Mostly used sqlalchemy core modules, little experience with ORM 

Use it practically everyday for majority of my projects.

I worked with two of the popular NoSQL solutions - Cassandra and InfluxDB.
