API Systems Application Software Developer

This role provides the opportunity to design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions for complex enterprise systems. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative environment supporting mission-critical applications for government and large-scale IT programs. The ideal candidate is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in API development, enterprise integration, and middleware technologies. You will contribute to all phases of the software lifecycle, from architecture and design to testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. This role emphasizes innovation, reliability, and adherence to best practices, enabling teams to deliver secure and efficient solutions that meet business objectives.

• Accountabilities:
• Architect, design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade software applications and APIs.
• Implement solutions using WebMethods, SoftwareAG API Gateway, API Portal, and API Catalog.
• Develop and integrate COTS product suites to ensure scalable and secure application architecture.
• Support application lifecycle including testing, deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and translate them into technical designs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance, integration, and security issues across middleware and cloud environments.
• Contribute to the adoption of best practices in API design, middleware development, and cloud integrations.
• Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in software development, including 5–7 years in complex application design, API integration, and enterprise solutions.
• Strong expertise in WebMethods, SoftwareAG API Gateway, API Portal, API Catalog, and COTS product suites.
• Knowledge of web services, messaging protocols (SOAP, REST, JAX-RS, RPC), XML Gateway, and schema design.
• Experience with middleware, cloud services, application servers, and performance tuning.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required; active Public Trust/MBI clearance or the ability to obtain one.
