Summary of Team:

We're seeking a Software Engineer to join our Email Platform team within Genesys Cloud. You'll be part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our customer experience email communication services. The ideal candidate will help drive innovation in our cloud-based email infrastructure while ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of our email services.

Responsibilities / Job Duties:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable email processing services within our cloud-based microservice architecture
  • Implement features supporting email routing, delivery, tracking, and analytics
  • Build and maintain integrations with email service providers and protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3)
  • Ensure email deliverability and handle bounce management
  • Participate in on-call rotation to maintain service reliability
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design reviews
  • Write comprehensive automated tests for new features and existing functionality

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with Java
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures
  • Proven track record of building fault-tolerant and highly available systems
  • Proficiency in working with REST APIs
  • Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end)
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in distributed teams
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • Strong collaboration skills and team-oriented mindset

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3) and email authentication standards (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
  • Amazon Simple Email Service (SES)
  • DynamoDB for message storage and tracking
  • S3 for email attachment handling
  • SQS/SNS for asynchronous message processing
  • Lambda for serverless email processing functions
  • Experience with email templating systems
  • Knowledge of email deliverability best practices
  • Understanding of email security and anti-spam measures
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements (GDPR, CAN-SPAM)
