Product Designer (Freelancer/Part-Time, Cape Town)

BADI Culture is designed in Switzerland and responsibly made in Europe and South Africa. We focus on sustainable and long-lasting everyday pieces.

We are looking for a product designer based in Cape Town to assist us in a freelance capacity.

What you will be doing:

• Assist in developing new products and collections
• improve existing products to meet our sustainability standards and circular economy goals
• Prototype products such as bags, backpacks and various accessories
• Coordinate with production partners in Cape Town
• Support our communication team with content and technical input

What are your requirements:

• 3–4 years of work experience in product or accessory design
• Strong experience in developing bags and accessories
• Degree in fashion or product design
• Skilled in sewing and working with canvas and leather
• Very familiar with sustainable production, materials and circular economy principles
• Well organised and able to plan and deliver on time
• Enjoy writing and understand the importance of storytelling
• Team player who can also work independently
• Based in Cape Town or within 40 minutes of the CBD
• Mobile and holding a valid driver’s licence
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
