Shopify Developer - FT Freelance - Worldwide

About the Role

Nugg is seeking an experienced Shopify Developer to lead the rapid development of a new e-commerce site. This is a full-time, sprint-style project lasting one month, with the possibility of extended engagement for site maintenance.

We’re not looking for a theme-customizer or drag-and-drop builder—we need a true developer with programming expertise who can handle real coding, third-party integrations, and nuanced platform customizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Stand up a new Shopify storefront from the ground up in collaboration with our internal design team.
• Work closely with company leadership (especially the hiring manager) to execute the development sprint.
• Integrate third-party services and APIs as needed.
• Support localization and translation efforts for a German-based cannabis e-commerce site.
• Ensure clean, scalable, and maintainable code for future updates.
• Be available for ongoing site maintenance after launch on a part-time or ad-hoc basis.

Must-Haves

• Proven experience building Shopify websites with actual development (coding) work, not just theme tweaking.
• Strong programming skills (JavaScript, Liquid, HTML/CSS, and relevant back-end experience).
• Fluent English communication skills—you’ll work directly with leadership.
• Availability to start immediately and work full-time during the initial 4-week build.
• Ability to clearly showcase past Shopify work (portfolio required).
