Backend Engineer – (Nest.js / Node.js) - Berlin Based

We are looking for engineers based in Berlin

What You'll Do*

• Build and maintain robust backend features and APIs using Nest.js and TypeScript
• Collaborate with product and engineering leads to implement scalable backend services
• Write unit and integration tests, improve test coverage, and support automation best practices
• Contribute to API documentation, schema design, and cross-service contracts
• Own features end-to-end—from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and team knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

• Build and maintain production-grade backend features and APIs using Nest.js and TypeScript
• Work closely with the founder and product/design to shape solutions — not just implement tickets
• Own features end-to-end: design → implementation → deployment → monitoring
• Design APIs, schemas, and service contracts with scalability in mind
• Write unit and integration tests; improve test coverage and automation
• Participate in code reviews, pairing, and technical discussions that influence product direction

This is not a handoff-based role. You will influence how things are built, not just what is assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• 4–6 years of backend experience with Node.js / Nest.js
• Proven experience building and scaling real-world APIs in production
• Startup or fast-paced product team experience (ambiguity doesn’t scare you)
• Strong fundamentals in PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and backend architecture
• Ability to reason about product tradeoffs, not just technical ones
• Writes clean, modular, well-tested code
• Comfortable working independently and in tight collaboration
• Builder mindset — you care about shipping the right thing, not just closing tickets

Nice to Have

• Experience with message queues (Kafka, SNS/SQS)
• Background in SaaS, logistics, or real-time systems
• Familiarity with Prisma, WebSockets, event-driven patterns
• Exposure to LLM-powered services or AI integrations
