Collaborating researcher at the Signal Processing Laboratory in the Electronic Systems Department at University of São Paulo. Research in adaptive filtering, non‐linear kernel‐based solutions, machine learning, and chaos‐based communication systems. Some activities I have been involved with:
– Distributed systems and graphs: Co‐supervision of a M.S. student, working with distributed and graph signal processing. In this work, some ideas are proposed to reduce the computational cost and to save energy by optimizing transmission in these systems.
– Image restoration systems: Co‐supervision of an undergrad student from August, 2017 to August, 2018, studying image restoration using MLP and convolutional neural networks. Since August, 2019, co‐supervision of another undergrad student, supported by FAPESP, working to extend the previous results by using machine learning techniques such as deep neural networks, autoencoders, GANs and schemes based on mixture of experts.
– Cardiac arrhythmia detection systems: Co‐supervision of an undergrad student, studying ECG signal processing techniques using neural networks to provide a preliminary diagnostic of cardiac arrhythmia.

Consulting services in data science and computational systems for data acquisition, treatment, and visualization involving machine learning and internet of things solutions. Some projects I have been involved with include:
– System for processing telecommunications billing documents: development of a web application to perform parsing of telecommunications billing documents of different formats (PDF, TXT, Febraban, etc), consolidate data, and present it in dashboards to assist negotiations with telecommunication companies.
– System for measuring work space occupancy: software and hardware development for a presence sensing system for workplaces in shared office spaces. Use of low‐cost presence sensors with low‐energy consumption without user identification and implementation of a web application to visualize the occupancy results.
– System for data collection in industrial equipment: software and hardware development for data collection from flame sensors in industrial plants. Use of a Modbus gateway and observability systems such as Prometheus and Grafana for the creation of internet‐accessible dashboards showing the parameters of the equipment.

I have been using Python since 2008, when I started building scripts to help with the administration of servers. In 2013, I started to study the libraries related to numerical computation, to replace Matlab and, in 2015, I started using Python as my primary language for research in digital signal processing and machine learning/data science projects. 

For the last 5 years, I have been involved with projects of computational systems for data acquisition, treatment, visualization, and internet of things solutions. 
In 2020  I enrolled on Data Science bootcamp organized by Correlation One and sponsored by Softbank in which I had contact with several data science cases. During the bootcamp, my team worked on a practicum project entitled “Dynamic Pricing Tool for e‐Commerce using Deep Q‐Learning” that was awarded in 3rd place among the 48 projects in the program.

Since 2015, I have been working on some machine learning projects. Besides that, I have been supervising some undergrad students working with image processing and health-related applications.
