I manage a group of 18-30 communities of practice (depending how you count them) across Canada, Latin America, and the United States, containing well over 5,000 Microsoft Employees. Our technical communities serve to keep field employees better connected with technical readiness, news, and help from their peers across Microsoft. My role includes management of a team of community leads and captains, as well as a working with leadership from across the business, to ensure that the goals and activities of the various communities in the Americas align to business needs. Some of the types of activities we run include: - Regular technical training sessions across a variety of Microsoft technologies, conducted virtually and in person - Hack-a-thon events (both in person and virtual) - Large scale, in person training events - The creation of community hiring teams, which are used to recruit new employees into specific technical needs - Virtual Ask Me Anything events with Microsoft leadership

Americas Technical Communities Program Manager

Working for Microsoft Consulting Services as a User Experience designer. My job is to talk to business stakeholders and constituent users to design and implement software that will make their lives easier. In short - if I've done my job well, users of my applications won't realize how much time and effort I've saved them. Primary focus is on the design and development of B2B and B2C Windows 8 apps. I also dabble in Kinect for Windows app design and development, Windows Phone, and occasionally SharePoint. Designed and implemented software for: - The NFL - We put a Surface on the field in the hands of every coach, on every team, to review plays in-game. - Facebook - Alaska Airlines- Design and implementation of their Windows 8 app - Johnson Controls - Dell - FedEx - Ashley Furniture - Boeing - Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Lubrizol - Procter and Gamble - Xerox - Nebraska Furniture Mart ...and a nearly mind-numbing count of more clients who escape me at this point.

Mapped campus buildings for planning and installation of 802.11x WiFi network on Campus. Performed network maintenance, including replacement, updating, and reprogramming of switches and routers.

UITS Student Engineer

Web software consulting company. Built custom reporting tools for Mechanical Engineering firms and toolsets for small businesses. Founded and funded with a partner, with nothing but blood, sweat, and tears.

Co-Founder, Engineer

Added functionality to control panel utility to display fan and temperature failure warnings. Designed and implemented software control for in-wall control keypads for Rosie Home Automation System for a potential multi-million dollar customer, using the Objective-C programming language. Designed and implemented a video output test pattern system for troubleshooting installations, decreasing average troubleshooting time by 50%.

Software Engineering Intern

Development of new version control branching application using C# and proprietary software versioning tools, reducing a 3-day job to a 2 hour task. Created a tool to convert a competing company's file format to Bentley's, which led to a large sale. Worked with lead developers to find and eliminate bugs in existing CAD software for civil engineers.

An exploratory project - we built a group-oriented IoT workout application that tracked multiple athletes' heart rate, effort, output, and capacity using BluetoothLE sensors.  It displayed a real-time leaderboard onscreen to motivate and inform athletes and their coaches during workouts.
