Frontend Engineer

Improved SEO for one of the company’s product; Careerpedia about a 100% by creating a rendering service that responds with HTML snapshots to crawlers and search bots, the product was built with AngularJs and at the time search engines could not crawl JavaScript websites. I worked closely with the design team to develop a website that embodies the values and identity of the company. I was responsible for the development, deployments, and troubleshooting of production issues across the company’s products: Careerpedia and AfriMakeup.

Technical Developer

Nigeria Open Data Access (www.opendata.com.ng) is an open data start up with a cause to make data open to the public. With this goal we worked on developing the largest data portal and repository in Africa. As the project lead developer, I engaged in the following activities: - Co-ordinated with team mates to create prototypes and wireframes for the project. - Translated wireframes into Hi-Fi UI designs. - Developed and maintained web application to cover all the business logic for the project. - Facilitated and Organized the first open data party/ event in South Western Nigeria.

Lead Developer

Assisted in the development and rolling out of user interfaces for new user features using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Developed a knowledge base website, where users could go to find answers to possible questions they might have about using the product.

Frontend Intern

I started taking JavaScript serious when angularJs came out, which is strange because prior to that time I had been using it when modifying WordPress templates but I never cared enough to really master the language, But the advent of  Nodejs and the possibilities that came with it made me to really dig deep into learning JavaScript, I rarely code these in any other language, in fact I would consider myself a JavaScript Engineer in as much as I am a Front-end Engineer

I work in my day job as a frontend engineer for one of the largest e-commerce companies in West Africa, I have worked a couple of on personal projects, also in really small teams and large teams. More recently I was involved in building a PWA (i.e. Progressive Web App) that being said when I am involved in a project, I not only aim to get the product shipped but I also consider the performance implications of the approach I take in delivering the project.  

I am quite experienced in using WordPress; in fact it was the very first introduction to programming for me more or less. I graduated from using themes, to modifying these themes using the concept of child themes then eventually to creating my own templates and implementing custom features into already existing templates .

I'd say I got a late start on testing, but I have come to realize that writing tests is just as important as writing the actual application code, because for starters tests acts a documentation for the application code, also they helping lend run time  reliability and ensure that the software doesn't regress when new change sets are made. I use selenium & nightwatch js for browser end-to-end tests and mocha, karma, jasmine for unit test most of the time

I've worked in capacity of a devops and release engineer, more importantly getting software out in a way thats efficient and reliable requires too much human effort without any automation being involved, hence the need for some kind of infrastructure around that. I have setup up applications using Heroku, DigitalOcean, AWS EC2, Docker, Kubernetes on GCP and often times I've had to write scripts to automate some parts of my deployment process

I do use Git in every project I work, even the ones I have no intention of pushing to a public repo because it really helps with keeping track of every changeset in such a way thats very accessible.
