I am an advocate for full stack JavaScript development. My experience has been largely on the server side using the Node.js framework in combination with MongoDB.

I am also quite found of the ES2015 standard (ES6) and use babel with all my projects. It really is a great tool.

The new module and import syntax makes for much cleaner composed code.

I no longer write PHP as avidly as I used to, however occasionally we have to do jobs involving Wordpress which require me to get my hands dirty.

The last version of PHP I seriously programmed was 5.4. The new language features were excellent additions, particularly the type hinting. Eventually I personally shifted focus from PHP to Node.js not because of PHP itself but because I found the environment (Apache etc.) inflexible and heavy.
