I have many years of experience pursuing knowledge and sharing it with others. In recent years I have focused on Ruby, mostly back end work.

I've done teaching, mentoring, and tutoring all along, teaching at New York University, leading "Ruby clinics" at Verisign, and tutoring individual clients in various subjects.

Personality fit is important in a mentor-mentee relationship. I am patient and understanding. In my life I've had successes that have buoyed my spirits and failures that have humbled me. You should not to be made to feel less of a person for not knowing something. The fact that you seek to improve yourself is admirable.

I am a detail oriented person and can teach best practices in coding for optimal clarity, conciseness, and expressiveness.

In addition, I am a writer and can teach writing and edit your work; and I've studied European and Asian languages and understand the difficulty of speaking and writing in a nonnative language.

I am usually in Southeast Asia but return to the USA once or twice a year.

Although I'm not fluent in any language other than English, I do have limited expertise in the following languages, in descending order of skill: French, Swedish, Thai, Korean, and Japanese.
