Maintained and upgraded software, systems, and processes. Highly varied full stack role that involved coming up to speed with and improving large legacy systems.  Worked closely with accounting team and dues processing team to handle data correctness and reporting needs.

Developed from proof of concept to functional solution a heuristic and machine learning based document processing solution.  Using a variety of Python based NLP and machine learning libraries we did large quantities of entity identification and labeling.

Primarily worked as a backend developer building out their cloud service SaaS database backup solution.  I managed, deployed code to and debugged performance issues on dozens of servers across multiple datacenters.

Senior Engineer

On my small team here we worked and communicated directly with non-technical warehouse clients, gathering requiring, and actively developing new processes for the growing business.

Migrated technology from a legacy PHP stack to modern framework and infrastructure capable for the quickly growing needs of the team. 

I working Java enterprise services including Spring, Jersey, and Hibernate in the backend.  The project was a full stack system utilizing html5, css, and javascript frontend development.

I've developed production web applications in Python, built offline processing systems, and suites of scripts in various roles over most of my career.

I've built petabyte scale data processing and management systems in Java, developed a novel warehouse management system, in addition to web application/API development.  My experience in Java is varied and deep. 

I've built greenfield applications, prototypes, and rebuilt legacy applications in Ruby on Rails.  I understand exactly what it takes to go from an idea to a fully functional, well tested application or API.

I've used PostgreSQL to build systems both large and small throughout my career.  I've migrated data from MySQL systems to PostgreSQL, managed security, roles, upgrades and more. 

I've used all variety of Amazon Web Services to serve, host, and backup systems.  From EC2 instances with EBS volumes, IAM security, and carefully managed Security Groups to using S3 and glacier for on demand backup solutions, I've used most of the services provided by amazon, and can get off the ground quickly with all of these systems. 

I was a full time Senior Engineer at MongoDB for 4 years.  As a company that believed very much in doing all in house development on top of MongoDB, I gained a very deep understanding of how to design schemas, how to productionize MongoDB deployments, and everything in between.

I spent two years developing a novel document processing system, and natural language processing became a key tool in my toolbox during that time.  I understand the abilities and limitations of modern NLP systems.
