I manage the engineering team at Mobials Inc. As part of senior leadership I am responsible for the development of employees as well as the technical direction of the company. I work closely with the Product Team to ensure that we are chosing the best technology choices to fit the project. Additionally, I help train and mentor engineers; ranging from intern to senior engineer.

What I do:

- Design and develop distributed backend systems using (PHP, RabbitMQ, MySQL, Redis, Memcache, AWS), includes required infrastructure, API design, integration into existing systems.
- Develop/maintain internal frameworks

- Troubleshoot existing products and plan new product features

- Occasionally write front-end systems to integrate into backend systems.

- Launched (April 2017) which is a web product for automotive dealerships
- This product is also featured on kijiji.ca and reaches around 500 dealerships across Canada

Mobials.com : Reviewsii - Notification system redesign
- The Reviewsii Product suffered from technical debt and required a complete rebuild from the ground up as the scope of the system continually grew over the previous 3 years.
- Using better engineering principles our team was able to close dozens of open tickets regarding edge case problems with the new system.

Worked as an IT Student was was responsible for the research of several key technologies that were to be implemented in the future. Assisted employees with the technology problems of everyday work. Administered and maintained the network by using protocol identification software and stateful packet inspection. Identified security breaches before they were a problem.

IT Student

I have been building PHP based applications since 2004 when I was writing PHP4 web forms. I have worked on a variety of applications the most recent being a Domain Driven Design application responsible for the accounting of my current employer. It is responsible for managing product subscriptions/licences/authorizations as well as payments. It is definitely the crowning achievement of my career thus far. 

In Addition to this I am also a Maintainer of the popular Slim PHP micro service framework.

I have been using MySQL for my RBDMS since 2004. I have built all sorts of applications from very small, to very large. Most recently I am just finishing up a Subscription Management System / Accounting System for my full-time job at Mobials.

During my tenure as Director of Technology, I managed the engineers that delivered this product. We had several teams of engineers working on microservices that power the product, There were over 10 different microservices being managed by our small team of 11. 

Autoverify

This project was built for a client in Australia who needed a system to manage uploading of graphics from concert venues, where the internet availability was poor. The application also kept track of scores and had a leaderboard for displaying scores for an on-site projector. Some concert sponsors included national beer brands in Australia and Pandora.
