Worked as part of an prototyping and innovation team embedded in London&#x27;s Large Customer Sales department, where prototyped and scaled solutions for local and global Industry Analysts. Currently member of gTech (Google Professional Services), company&#x27;s consulting arm. <ul><li>Hotel Ads Spotlight: First project; build UI so that the project could be released. Data exploration for Hotels related metrics for specific markets. </li><li>Science of Search: Wrote a drop in replacement for a tool scheduled to be outphased. For the first three months extended company&#x27;s web platform working on interlan custom CMS and other development. The company split into two different lines and was assigned to &quot;Connected home&quot; which orchestrated installation of smart devices from a licensed installer, such as Nest and Tado. There: Was responsible for getting a system not fit for purpose which had to be repurposed while in use, Participated in discussions with internal clients and management, created road-maps and oversaw their implementation.Chanced the velocity of the project by simplifying its surface by eliminating costly and redundant dependencies. Introduced Continuous Integration and Delivery and other automations, Release management. Changed processes, managed perception and expectations from the development team. Re-architect of the application used by hundreds of users with minimum disruption. &quot;Employee of the Month&quot; award.

Rediscovered Python some years before while evaluating my career prospects and pivoting towards Data Science and Data Engineering. What I understood looking at the available options was that Python, Java, and Scala (incl. others such as Go to some extent) were languages with which you could do “everything” from web scrapping or system tasks, up to data science and visualizations, without mentioning web develoment. Python is the only scripting one so decided to double down on it and since then most of my projects are either Python projects or have a strong Python element.

Build two marketplaces sites in different areas, build a Podcast hosting app.

Rails is the "go-to" platform of choice if most of an application's functionality is to live on the web.

 
My RDBMS of choice almost before it was cool :) Still like it for the same reason as when I encountered it: one stop shop for documentation which is great, focus on stability vs features, and a library for most if not all mainstream programming languages. Mostly though ANSI  compliance and the ability to write database functions if need to. Did I mention the “modern SQL” capabilities?

Mostly as a developer than admin have managed systems/applications that rely on PostgreSQL on and off for many years.

Have been mostly a back-end development. Like working with JavaScript, have tried some frameworks in the past, my recent experiences are mostly in "vanilla JS" and recently learning some React and D3 both of which I like a lot.

 
Have been the "lean" person on many projects. Able to understand different requirements and strip them down to MVP/MDP, creating time plans and execution estimates for these, and then start implementing them, in order to test the idea with its target audience and start gathering feedback as fast as possible or at least not late. Have seen many projects dying and organisations suffering because of  not being lean or trying to impose a waterfall approach (which has its merits and applications)  to areas that it is not applicable. Very recently in a place I used to work people were saying: “if you have an  idea to build something, buy Dimitry a coffee”.
