Senior Hardware Design Engineer

A key member of a hardware engineering team whose responsibilities include design and support of a new cost-reduced video multiplexer architecture as well as design and implementation of new encoder products. Responsible for design elements including architecture specification writing, schematic capture, part selection and negotiation, FPGA/PLD Verilog coding, placement and layout reviews, as well as lab bring-up, diagnostic testing and debug, organization of QA procedures, FCC, DVT, thermal testing, and release to manufacturing. Primary engineer responsible for design, implementation, documentiation, and testing of a 12-port switch fabric implemented in an Altera Stratix FPGA with a bandwidth of 1.3 Gbps per link. This was the backbone of the next-generation encoder product line, responsible for supporting both control and data paths. Primary engineer for design, implementation, documentation, and testing of a 4 port analog/digital audio compression card supporting MPL2, AC3, and AAC. Designed and simulated a video filter/re-routing FPGA and backplane management FPGA in a mixed Verilog/AHDL environment.

Hardware Design Engineer

Board lead for hardware implementation of a management card for a high-availability dual-redundant chassis based SAN switch. Responsible for entire design including architecture specification writing, chip selections, thermal simulation, schematic capture, FPGA/PLD Verilog coding, and placement and layout reviews. The board consisted of a 256 Gbps, 128 port switch network with differential signaling operating at 2.5 GHz with supporting dual-CPUs and a 24 port switched Ethernet management network. Other design features included extensive DC-DC converters, memory and boot flash expansion, PCMCIA, HDLC, and a Local Bus to PCI converting FPGA.

Responsible for hardware implementation of board design including specification writing, chip selection, schematic capture, FPGA/CPLD VHDL coding, placement and layout reviews, board bring-up, debugging, and DVT. Worked on the following designs for the MAYAN Unifier: Revised a 28 port DS-1 to VT1.5 SONET mapper board. Board lead for a 14 port E1 to VT2 SONET mapper board. Lead designer for a Packet Processing FPGA for Frame Relay

AngularJS and JS in general can be tough if you're coming from other languages, and I found it to be as well. But once you see how elegant it can be and understand the scoping constraints (or, benefits!) you can really churn out some great front-ends.
