After using React for almost 2 years, it is now my preferred Javascript framework. It has huge gains in performance and maintainability/scalability over older frameworks like Backbone, Ember, and Angular.

JavaScript was the first programming language I learned, and I continue to use it everyday. It's the language that powers our web browsers and as such is a crucial part of building software for the web.

Ruby on Rails is my preferred technology for the backend. Rails allows quick development of robust and scalable APIs ripe and ready for consumption by the frontend client.

As a Frontend Engineer it's important to have strong HTML/CSS chops. Over the years I have personally observed the evolution of my understanding of how to write modular, maintainable HTML/CSS quickly and efficiently.

HTML and CSS are the heart and soul of any web application because it's what we show to the user and have them interact with.
