Summary

I am a post-doctoral researcher at Imperial College London, working within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. I have a background in Bioinformatics and Clinical Medicine. I am passionate about using advanced data analytics and "big data" to answer relevant medical questions.

My PhD focused on the characterization of molecular signatures of coronary artery disease, through the integration of genomics and metabolomics data. I profiled clinical plasma samples by 1H NMR (n = 2,000) and computed associations between disease-related metabolites and genetic markers (SNPs). I developed strong programming skills, as well as a broad range of quantitative and analytical skills regarding: i) univariate and multivariate analysis of large omics datasets; ii) graph theory applied to biochemical networks; iii) high-performance computing techniques. The work of my PhD has so far resulted in seven original papers (six as first author) and one book chapter, published in the leading journals in the fields of Bioinformatics and Analytical Chemistry. I also created several open-source software packages (available from Bioconductor or CRAN) to enhance the use of the methods and visualization tools developed as part of my PhD.
