Senior Full Stack Developer

6 years ago I tore down everything I knew about javascript, which turned out to be not much - and rebuilt it from the ground up with help from visionaries like Douglas Crockford.  Since then I have not stopped learning new ways to use this flexible and remarkable little language.

I have always been a web developer with a penchant for design, so CSS is something I spend a lot of time with.  CSS can be extremely frustrating if the foundations are assumed rather than learned properly, and modern CSS frameworks can gloss over concepts so they feel more like magic than approachable solutions.  I can help you cut through the muck and learn to love, or at least tolerate this quirky but immensely useful language. 

I use node regularly to write back end code and command line utilities.  I can bring you up to speed with express js and give you a strong foundation in server side code.  Node is also my prefered environment for tinkering and prototyping library / utility code, and great for learning (or teaching) the fundamentals of javascript.

I have worked as a web developer for over a decade and have seen UI design trends, philosophies and frameworks come and go.  I can help you learn current techniques and understand the challenges unique to web application design, whether you want to roll your own look and feel or get the most out of a framework like bootstrap
