We're a mission-driven defense technology company building CognitiveOS, the leading platform for cognitive warfare operations. Led by a Marine Corps veteran with 17 years of military experience and proven defense tech exits, our small team of 6 experts is creating AI solutions with real-world impact across U.S. military and international defense partners.

Founded in April 2023, we're a profitable, self-funded company that ships fast and deploys real technology to real operators. Our platform is already in use by operational units conducting live missions worldwide.

The Role

You'll be instrumental in evolving CognitiveOS capabilities and building new features for cognitive warfare applications. This isn't a typical defense contractor role with endless meetings and bureaucratic overhead – we focus on building solid plans and executing them efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Develop and optimize full-stack CognitiveOS applications using local large language models
• Build modern, responsive React interfaces that military operators can use intuitively in high-stakes environments
• Implement robust backend APIs with Python and PostgreSQL
• Create advanced AI features including RAG systems, multi-agent architectures, and structured LLM outputs
• Design real-time collaborative features and visual workflow automation
• Integrate image generation capabilities for content operations
• Rapidly prototype new capabilities based on real-world operational feedback
• Deploy and maintain containerized services in production environments

Must-Have Qualifications

• US citizenship required (no exceptions – required for our defense work)
• US-based and available for Eastern time zone working hours
• Strong full-stack development experience with modern frameworks
• Backend: Python, FastAPI (or similar), PostgreSQL
• Frontend: React, TypeScript, modern CSS approaches
• Experience working with local large language models (Ollama, LM Studio, or similar)
• Proficiency with AI-based coding tools like Cursor to accelerate development
• Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
• Familiarity with async task processing and deployment pipelines
• Self-directed work ethic with ability to operate independently
• Passion for quality code and rapid experimentation
  

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems and vector databases
• Real-time features (WebSockets, Socket.IO)
• Image generation models (Stable Diffusion, Flux)
• Modern state management approaches
• Workflow automation platforms
