Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Social Media Specialist to join our team. This role will report to the Digital Marketing Manager. You should be passionate about managing and optimizing social media channels, enhancing YouTube performance, and improving community and email engagement. Key Responsibilities:
YouTube Channel Management (25%)
- Work with our Digital Marketing Manager to schedule videos, post content, review comments, and maintain channel health.
- Overhauling our YouTube presence - @zeihanongeopolitics – by updating branded assets, organizing playlists and other content, and conducting thumbnail tests.
- Manage the launch of our short-form content on YouTube Shorts; creating and publishing to maximize reach and engagement
- Handle the removal of copyright content across YouTube.
Patreon Advertising & Management (25%)
- Contribute to both paid and organic marketing strategies in support of the growth of our Patreon community.
- The Digital Marketing Manager will own the Patreon, but you will assist with any needs - content editing, scheduling, community moderation, events, etc.
- Explore new advertising opportunities for the Patreon.
Social Media Management (25%)
- Oversee, refresh and develop platform specific content for the ZoG social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Monitor and analyze social media performance metrics creating bi-weekly reports to inform future strategies.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for growth that align with the ZoG vision – i.e. podcast opportunities, speaking events, or new platforms.
Email Marketing - Mailchimp (15%)
- Clean and optimize the existing Mailchimp contact list of approximately 200,000 contacts.
- Identify and segment "top readers" and engaged subscribers for targeted campaigns that are likely to convert to our paid content on Patreon.
- Develop and execute new email campaigns to help convert newsletter members to the Patreon page.
Community Management (10%)
- Assist in moderating community chats (e.g., forums, Discord, or other platforms) as needed.
- Manage and enforce community guidelines to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Monitor and address user concerns or questions in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing social media platforms, including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Proficiency in video editing tools and graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite preferred)
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms like Mailchimp, including list management and segmentation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - (ability to write in our brand voice).
- Ability to analyze data and metrics to inform strategies.
- Experience with community management and moderation is a plus.
- Experience running paid marketing campaigns is a plus.
- A background or interest in geopolitics is a plus.
