We have a 6 - 12 month contract to hire position open for a Software Engineer with a strong background in Node.js, AWS serverless architecture, and enterprise-grade API integration platforms, including Axway and Ping Federated Identity Provider Gateway (IPG). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable backend services and secure API gateways in cloud-native environments.
You will collaborate closely with architecture, security, and DevOps teams to design and build robust, secure, and high-performance APIs and microservices to support mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, deploy, and maintain serverless applications using Node.js, AWS Lambda, and related AWS services (e.g., API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch)
- Design and implement secure, scalable RESTful APIs with API Gateway and integrate with external/internal systems
- Work with Axway API Management tools for secure gateway and traffic management
- Integrate identity and access management (IAM) using Ping Federated IPG for authentication and authorization flows
- Write clean, efficient, and testable code while following software development best practices
- Support CI/CD processes and participate in code reviews, design reviews, and production deployments
- Collaborate cross-functionally with security, DevOps, and product teams to align system requirements with business goals
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues across services and APIs
- Document architecture, technical decisions, and integration strategies for ongoing support and scaling
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 4–7+ years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on backend engineering
- Strong proficiency with Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Solid experience with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and IAM
- Experience working with Axway API Management tools (e.g., API Gateway, API Manager, Policy Studio)
- Hands-on experience integrating with Ping Federated IPG or similar federated identity platforms
- Deep understanding of OAuth2, SAML, and token-based authentication mechanisms
- Knowledge of secure API design and web security best practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems such as Git
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience with containerized applications (e.g., Docker, ECS, EKS)
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Splunk, Datadog)
- Prior experience in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance)
- Knowledge of Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure-as-code
- Exposure to GraphQL or other modern API protocols
