About YPO
YPO is the global leadership community of chief executives, connecting more than 35,000 members across 142 countries through peer learning, shared experiences, and trusted relationships. YPO’s digital transformation is building a platform where every member can discover relevant peers and events, understand why they see what they see, control how their data is used, and trust every interaction.
At the heart of this transformation is a layered Trust Stack — a coherent data and intelligence platform built layer by layer, where APIs are the stable, semantic connective tissue that makes the entire ecosystem function. This role is responsible for owning those APIs. YPO Candidates are expected to actively and enthusiastically use AI tools in their daily work and leverage AI into how they build, design, and ship.
🚀 The Opportunity
We are seeking a Sr. Product Manager, Technical to lead the strategy, development, rollout, and lifecycle management of YPO’s API platform.
Own the vision, roadmap, and execution for APIs powering the Member ecosystem, Chapter operations, and Agentic AI platform, partnering with Engineering, Product, IT, Data, and Security.
Design scalable, semantic API solutions that meet technical, privacy, and governance standards while serving as the primary liaison for internal consumers and external partners.
Requires strong technical depth, API product experience, and the ability to translate complex integrations into clear, actionable requirements.
🧩 API Portfolio
- Member API: Profile, identity, peer discovery, graph relationships
- Chapter API: Chapter ops, forums, events, role-based access
- Agentic APIs: Governed contracts for AI agents (OpenAI + RAG + Gemini); approved APIs only, explainable outputs
⚙️ What You’ll Do
API Strategy & Vision
- Define and own API vision, roadmap, and long-term strategy aligned to Digital Transformation
- Identify opportunities to expand API capabilities for new products, data use cases, and integrations
- Drive API-first best practices (scale, security, versioning, developer experience)
- Ensure API stability regardless of backend changes (Trust Stack principle)
API Development & Lifecycle
- Translate requirements into product specs, user stories, and API definitions
- Partner with Engineering to design REST/GraphQL APIs (AWS API Gateway), including data models, versioning, and authentication (Auth0/Okta)
- Prioritize features, enhancements, and technical debt
- Manage full lifecycle: build, test, document, version, deprecate, and migrate
- Ensure APIs expose provenance and explanation metadata
Agentic Ecosystem Enablement
- Own API contracts for AI agents (Peer & Event Discovery)
- Enforce governance: approved APIs only, no raw data access, kill-switch boundaries
- Partner with Data Science and Engineering to define agent data flows and mitigate risks
- Enable observability of agent performance, success rates, and cost metrics
Developer & Integration Enablement
- Act as primary liaison for internal and external API consumers
- Ensure clear documentation, sample queries, and sandbox environments
- Support onboarding and drive self-service adoption
- Resolve integration issues and improve usability
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Data, IT, and Security on scalability, performance, and access control
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and consent frameworks
- Translate API capabilities into business value for product teams
Governance & Reliability
- Establish API standards (versioning, documentation, lifecycle, deprecation)
- Evaluate third-party tools (e.g., Elasticsearch, Kafka, EventBridge)
- Ensure observability, alerting, and uptime (Datadog)
- Continuously improve reliability and developer experience
📊 Success Metrics
- API adoption across teams and partners
- Reduced integration timelines and improved developer experience
- Zero undocumented breaking changes
- On-time roadmap delivery
- High reliability and proactive issue detection
- Governed, explainable AI integrations
