We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geospatial Data Scientist to lead the development of innovative solutions for climate resilience and environmental monitoring. This role requires a technical visionary capable of transforming massive Earth Observation (EO) datasets into actionable insights. The ideal candidate is an expert in cloud-based geospatial computing (GEE/BigQuery) and has a proven track record of building predictive models for natural risks and land-use dynamics at a global scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture: Design and manage large-scale geospatial pipelines (Raster & Vector) within cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Predictive Modeling: Develop and deploy Machine Learning and Deep Learning models for change detection, time-series analysis, and multi-hazard risk assessment (e.g., floods, wildfires, subsidence).
- Sensor Fusion: Integrate data from diverse sources, including multispectral optical sensors (Sentinel-2, Landsat), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), and LiDAR.
- Solution Development: Build custom Web GIS applications and interactive dashboards to translate complex scientific findings into accessible tools for stakeholders.
- Technical Mentorship: Oversee the scientific rigor of projects and act as a bridge between high-level strategic goals and technical execution.
Technical Requirements (Preferred Stack)
- Programming: Advanced proficiency in Python (Geopandas, Xarray, Rasterio, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and R.
- Cloud Computing: Expert-level experience with Google Earth Engine (GEE) and Google BigQuery.
- Databases: Strong command of PostgreSQL / PostGIS.
- GIS Software: Professional use of QGIS or ArcGIS Pro.
- Education: Master’s or PhD in Geomatics, Remote Sensing, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
