About the Role

As a Data Scientist at Worldteam, you will extract actionable insights from complex datasets and develop statistical models that drive business decisions. Your analytical expertise will directly impact our strategic direction and product optimisation efforts.

What You'll Do

• Exploratory Data Analysis: Discover patterns, trends, and anomalies in large datasets to generate business insights
• Statistical Modelling: Develop statistical models to explain relationships and predict outcomes based on historical data
• A/B Testing: Design and evaluate experiments to measure the impact of product and process changes
• Data Visualisation: Create clear, compelling visualizations that communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders
• Feature Engineering: Identify and transform relevant variables to improve model performance
• Model Validation: Implement rigorous validation techniques to ensure model reliability and generalisability
• Business Intelligence: Translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with product, marketing, and operations teams to address business challenges

Our Ideal Team Mate

• Demonstrates strong statistical knowledge and experience with hypothesis testing and regression analysis
• Is proficient in Python or R with extensive experience using data analysis libraries (pandas, NumPy, SciPy)
• Can create effective data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or programming libraries
• Possesses excellent communication skills in English for explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Has experience with machine learning algorithms and their practical business applications

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Scientist with a track record of extracting value from large datasets
• Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
• Experience using statistical programming languages (R, Python, SQL) to manipulate data and draw insights
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision trees, neural networks) and their real-world applications
• Experience with advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests)
• Strong verbal and written English skills for effective client communication

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
• Previous experience working with Australian clients or in client-facing roles
