The Opportunity

We are seeking a Product Owner to join a motivated agile squad within the Debit Issuing Tribe.

The tribe is diverse, multi-language, multi-technology, and multi-site, delivering highly available services for cashless payment validation and authorization for banks across Europe.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Work within one of our scrum squads that are fully responsible for their applications from code to production (DevOps).
  • Focus on the payment infrastructure, including issuing transaction handling.
  • Ensure the performance of services under high constraints (speed, high availability, robustness, quality, etc.).
  • Collaborate closely with squad members and align with stakeholders (business engineers, project leads, other product owners) to deliver robust, highly available, and performant software on time and within budget.
  • Plan the squad’s activities, manage deadlines, project timelines, and release schedules.
  • Take ownership and end-to-end responsibility for the squad’s applications.
  • Support stakeholders by troubleshooting and resolving production issues, driving continuous system improvement.
  • Participate in client workshops as needed and ensure alignment with payments domain requirements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including Product Increment (PI), sprint planning, backlog refinement.
  • Collaborate with architects, operations, testing to ensure good quality and service continuity.
  • Ensure that all product and project documentation is maintained, up to date, and communicated effectively, including release notes and customer manuals.
  • Ability to understand technical discussions involving legacy applications.
  • Capable of translating business requirements into clear technical requirements and working closely with developers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with C/COBOL is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical and business documentation and identify changes requiring implementation.

In practice this means:

  • Higher degree in IT, Management, or related fields.
  • Proven track record (5+ years) as a Product Owner in an Agile environment (or equivalent).
  • Experience and knowledge in payments domain is advantageous; willingness to learn and grow in payments.
  • Eagerness to take application ownership and embrace responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and end-to-end product ownership.
  • Team player with strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work efficiently in an agile squad and manage delivery load in a high paced environment.
  • Experience working in a complex, multi-site, multi-technology, and multi-language environment is a plus.
  • Ability to understand technical discussions involving legacy applications.
  • Capable of translating business requirements into clear technical requirements and working closely with developers throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with C/COBOL is an advantage.

  • Strong collaboration with stakeholders to understand customer needs and translate into backlog items.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work, manage multiple deadlines, and deliver releases on time.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Client-facing skills as needed for workshops and requirement gathering.
