The ideal candidate combines strong automation engineering skills with hands-on experience in modern observability tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create automated processes for agent deployment, configuration management, and ingestion pipelines.

Splunk Datadog Migration

  • Support and/or lead the migration of dashboards, alerts, searches, and log pipelines from Splunk to Datadog.
  • Automate the translation or recreation of Splunk searches, saved queries, and dashboards into Datadog monitors, dashboards, or notebooks.
  • Build templated, reusable IaC components (Terraform, Ansible, Helm) for Datadog resources and configurations.
  • Develop automation to onboard teams and services into Datadog in a standardized and scalable manner.
  • Ensure proper tagging, metadata, and data processing rules during migration to maintain accuracy and cost efficiency.

Data Pipeline & Observability Engineering

  • Automate log and metric ingestion pipelines, including filtering, enrichment, and routing.
  • Optimize data flows to support performance, reliability, and retention strategies.
  • Validate the quality of telemetry data before and after migration.
  • Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and application teams to ensure proper instrumentation and visibility.

Tooling & Infrastructure Support

  • Maintain infrastructure-as-code modules for cloud, observability, and automation systems.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline automation and tooling improvements.
  • Ensure automated workflows are secure, maintainable, and well-documented.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and production support for log pipelines and observability-related automation.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with engineering, operations, security, and platform teams to align automation with observability needs.
  • Create clear documentation, runbooks, and training guides for automation processes and Datadog onboarding.
  • Participate in team code reviews, architecture sessions, and technical planning.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–6+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer, DevOps Engineer, SRE, or Software Engineer.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Datadog (logs, metrics, dashboards, monitors, APM).
  • Solid experience with Splunk (searches, dashboards, ingestion) and experience migrating from Splunk to Datadog.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills with Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or similar).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Good understanding of logs, metrics, traces, and telemetry data structures.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing automated log or metric pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Familiarity with APM, distributed tracing, and service-level management concepts.
  • Datadog or Splunk certifications.
  • Experience with event-driven automation using serverless platforms.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate complex topics clearly.
  • Highly organized, detail-focused, and documentation-minded.
  • Comfortable leading automation initiatives and helping teams adopt new tooling.
