Position Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build distributed, serverless systems that power WolfCycle's AI-driven marketing operations. You’ll take evolving requirements and translate them into scalable, production-ready solutions across our Python/FastAPI backend and React/Next.js frontend.

This is a hands-on, foundational engineering role with significant influence over architecture, engineering standards, and early production practices. You’ll operate with a high degree of ownership, driving solutions from concept through deployment while partnering closely with Product and Client Success to deliver software that directly impacts our customers

Key Responsibilities

Own delivery of complex features and systems end-to-end, from requirements through deployment and monitoring
Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI
Develop frontend applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
Architect and implement event-driven workflows using AWS serverless services (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, EventBridge, Cognito)
Make sound tradeoffs around scalability, cost, reliability, and maintainability in a serverless environment
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure reliability and responsiveness at scale
Contribute to production operations, including monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement of system reliability
Partner with Product and Client Success to translate business needs into technical solutions
Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical collaboration as the team grows

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of complex projects
Strong proficiency in Python and experience building production APIs with FastAPI (or similar frameworks)
Experience building modern frontend applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
Experience designing and operating systems in AWS, particularly serverless architectures
Experience working with distributed, event-driven systems in production environments
Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments with minimal direction
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Skills

Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, EventBridge, and Cognito
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK preferred) and CI/CD pipelines
Experience integrating with third-party APIs and enterprise systems
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)
Experience building or maintaining systems with high message throughput or real-time processing components
