Overview:
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and operate the data services that power our applications and APIs. You’ll collaborate across Engineering and Product to design and deliver scalable, reliable systems that drive real impact in the healthcare space. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring others, shaping technical architecture, and ensuring our services are secure, efficient, and maintainable.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain backend data services and APIs used across our platform
- Own the development lifecycle from ideation to production deployment, ensuring systems are stable and cost-effective
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype and iterate on new features
- Provide technical leadership and contribute to architectural and design decisions
- Mentor and coach engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence
- Partner closely with product managers to align on priorities and deliver value to users
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience designing and operating scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient backend data services
- Proficiency or strong interest in building backend systems in Go
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
- Deployment technologies (e.g., GitHub Actions, CodeDeploy, CircleCI)
- Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- A strong sense of ownership and excitement to see your work live in production
- Enthusiasm for driving innovation in healthcare and improving patient outcomes through technology
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-growing startup environment
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Based in Boston metro area with the ability to work on a hybrid schedule, or remote in EST/CST time zones with occasional travel for in-person collaboration
Bonus Points:
- Experience building and running large-scale backend systems in the cloud using Go
- Familiarity with AWS DynamoDB and cloud-native data architectures
- Understanding of application security best practices
- Background in working with healthcare data and APIs
- Knowledge of FHIR and/or TEFCA standards
