About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal UX Designer to lead and build the research function within Henry Schein One. This remote position within the United States offers an exciting opportunity to shape the user experience and influence product development through strategic research initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams—including product, development, and creative—to craft research studies, analyze findings, and deliver actionable insights. The role requires a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, a passion for research, and the ability to mentor and lead a team of designers. You will be responsible for developing research strategies that align with business goals, advocating for user needs, and ensuring that usability and accessibility are integrated into all aspects of product design. This position demands a collaborative, detail-oriented professional with strong storytelling skills who can communicate complex research insights effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications
- 9+ years of experience as a product designer with a focus on UX research and usability testing
- Proven track record of developing and leading research strategies that drive business outcomes
- Experience across the entire design process, from problem discovery through solution implementation
- Customer-obsessed mindset with a passion for understanding user needs and pain points
- Ability to facilitate internal workshops, design thinking sessions, and stakeholder engagement
- Strong mentorship or management experience with designers
- Proficiency with design and research tools such as Figma, Sketch, Invision, Adobe Creative Cloud
- Accessibility certification and experience preferred
- Bonus: Prior experience in the medical or dental industry
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a vision and strategy for implementing best-in-class UX research practices
- Guide and support the research team to deliver high-quality insights that influence product, design, and business decisions
- Create internal guidelines and best practices for comprehensive user research from ideation to validation
- Conduct customer interviews, usability testing, heuristic reviews, and competitive analyses to identify user needs and pain points
- Facilitate workshops and design thinking initiatives to foster innovation and collaborative problem-solving
- Mentor and coach designers and team members on research methodologies, accessibility principles, and user-centered design practices
- Plan and execute usability tests, collect KPIs, and analyze data to inform iterative design improvements
- Write detailed study plans, including goals, hypotheses, metrics, and research approaches
- Ensure the quality and consistency of usability and accessibility testing, sharing insights with product and development teams
- Lead moderated research sessions using platforms such as Userzoom or Usertesting
- Champion user research and accessibility initiatives across cross-functional teams to foster a user-centric culture
- Partner with stakeholders to understand complex technical constraints and translate them into user-friendly solutions
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of research processes and product usability standards
