About The Role
We are seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to join our expanding Digital Modernization team. In this fully remote position, you will work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to craft engaging, accessible, and user-friendly digital experiences across various platforms. Your role will involve translating user research and client requirements into intuitive interfaces, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs. You will champion human-centered design principles, ensuring compliance with federal digital standards such as Section 508 and the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS). As a key contributor, you will participate in ideation sessions, usability testing, and iterative design processes to optimize user outcomes. The position offers an opportunity to influence federal digital services while collaborating within an Agile environment. Occasional in-person meetings may be required, and candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Washington, DC Metro area to be eligible for consideration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Web Design, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably within public sector or mission-oriented environments
- At least 1+ years of experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar
- Understanding of the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS)
- Strong knowledge of responsive design principles and accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG)
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams
- U.S. Citizenship or Green Card holder due to federal contract requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- Reside within the United States, with work performed within U.S. jurisdiction
Responsibilities
- Participate in and lead ideation sessions, rapid testing, and concept validation to develop innovative UX solutions
- Design intuitive user interfaces and workflows based on comprehensive user research, accessibility best practices, and client specifications
- Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs to effectively communicate interaction ideas
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and business analysts, to translate requirements into user-centric designs
- Conduct usability testing, analyze results, and iterate designs to improve the overall user experience
- Work with product leadership to research, understand, and communicate user outcomes effectively
- Ensure consistency of design across platforms, aligning with agency branding standards and the USWDS
- Advocate for Section 508 compliance and accessibility throughout all design phases
- Support the development of design system components and style guides for scalability and long-term use
