About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Full Stack Engineer with a strong focus on backend development and Python. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in building scalable applications and integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into advanced solutions. Rather than developing machine learning models in-house, this position will focus on leveraging third-party APIs to create AI-powered products that go beyond simple chatbots or LLM wrappers.

The ideal candidate will be excited about defining best practices, optimizing performance, and creating AI-focused products that enhance automation across our platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance AI-powered features, integrating them into the user interface.
• Research new and improved methods for building AI-driven solutions.
• Optimize cost and performance for AI and backend services.
• Set up and maintain testing and evaluation frameworks for LLM results.
• Develop best practices for Python APIs, ensuring they are readable, scalable, and extensible.
• Work directly with manufacturers and large enterprises on cutting-edge projects.
• Enhance automation across all levels of our platform.
• Have direct and meaningful impact on our product development.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience building Python applications.
• Deep knowledge of best practices for Python APIs.
• Experience with Python microframeworks, such as Flask or FastAPI.
• 1+ years of experience working with React in a production capacity.
• Experience working with LLMs and agent frameworks, such as Langchain.
• A product-focused mindset and a desire to continuously learn new technologies.
• Experience working with generative AI models in a professional capacity.
• Proficiency in backend testing methodologies and tools.
• Experience working in a startup environment (1-20 engineers).
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.

Compensation And Benefits

• Salary range: $115,000 to $150,000 (compensation will be further refined during the interview process based on experience and proficiency).
• Stock option compensation.
• 100% coverage of health, dental, and vision insurance premiums for employees.
• 50% coverage of insurance premiums for employees’ dependents.
• Up to 4% match on Roth or Traditional 401k.

Work Location

• Seattle, WA (Hybrid or Remote)
• Motive is headquartered in Oklahoma City, but our engineering team is opening an office in Seattle for hybrid work.
• Candidates outside of Seattle or Oklahoma City may work fully remote.
