About The Role

HPE’s Private Cloud AI organization is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to support our AI Essentials product. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop and enhance a key component of HPE's Private Cloud AI platform, designed to accelerate AI productivity and streamline AI operations. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and refining major features of the AI Essentials platform, tackling complex technical challenges without predefined solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across geographies, including Product, Engineering, and QA, to deliver scalable and resilient cloud-native solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in troubleshooting issues across Kubernetes, server, storage, networking, and cloud domains, as well as developing innovative automation solutions to enhance engineering practices. This role encourages mentorship, technical leadership, and continuous improvement, providing a platform for you to influence product architecture and contribute to cutting-edge AI solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in Software Engineering
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Expert proficiency in Linux and Kubernetes platform architectures
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes storage architectures, including CSI and Persistent Volumes
• Deep understanding of backup and restore technologies and tools
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Hands-on experience with container architectures such as Docker, Cri-o (preferred)
• Experience with virtualization platforms like VMWare and KVM
• Proficiency with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of distributed systems, microservice design, and Kubernetes CNI
• Additional skills in cloud architectures, DevOps, security, and full-stack development are advantageous

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with distributed cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions aligned with business objectives
• Architect, design, and develop scalable, resilient features for the AI Essentials platform using cloud-native principles
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Kubernetes, server, storage, networking, and cloud domains
• Develop automated solutions to improve software engineering practices in partnership with DevOps, QA, and engineering teams
• Design and implement backup and restore strategies tailored to AI platform use cases
• Mentor and guide engineering team members, conduct code reviews, and promote technical excellence
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and incorporate best practices into product development
