About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer specializing in Full Stack Engineering with a focus on Data and Analytics to join our dynamic core Data and Analytics team. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, primarily aligning with Pacific Standard Time. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining our AI-native analytics platform, which leverages proprietary memory graphs learned from analyst interactions to support insightful, narrative-driven discovery. Your contributions will directly impact the quality and trustworthiness of our analytics capabilities, enabling our customers to make data-driven decisions that foster business growth. You will work closely with experienced engineers, product managers, and technical leads to build new features, improve existing systems, and deploy solutions that serve millions of Zendesk users worldwide.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience as a full stack software engineer, primarily on Java platforms
- Strong understanding of Java, Maven, and Spring frameworks, including widely accepted design patterns and best practices
- Experience in extending and maintaining complex codebases
- Knowledge of data pipelines, ETL processes, and Spark
- Proficiency in front-end technologies such as TypeScript and React
- Experience supporting distributed systems and familiarity with Linux internals and administration
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to trace and debug across multiple layers and stacks
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for effective cross-team partnerships
- Understanding of cloud services, including AWS (Elasticache, Redis, DynamoDB) and Kubernetes
- Ability to innovate and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Responsibilities
- Utilize Java and Maven/Spring toolchain to develop and enhance a trusted backend codebase
- Apply TypeScript and React to build and improve user-facing front-end components
- Design, develop, and deploy new capabilities within the analytics platform by leveraging existing systems
- Ensure reliable deployment of code to production environments, impacting millions of users
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, supporting, challenging, and learning from peers
- Partner with product managers and technical leads to shape and execute the team’s roadmap
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and process improvement
- Support and optimize distributed systems, ensuring scalability and performance
- Engage in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and code reviews to uphold engineering excellence
