About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Staff Software Engineer, Data, to lead our data engineering initiatives at PHIL. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and maintenance of our comprehensive data pipeline, integrating upstream data sources such as patients, prescribers, and pharmacies, and delivering data to internal teams and external clients. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, you will lead a team of onshore and offshore engineers, guiding the engineering efforts related to all data-related processes within the company. Your expertise will ensure that our data systems are robust, scalable, and secure, supporting decision-making, analytics, and product development. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the core data infrastructure of a rapidly growing health-tech startup, contributing to innovative healthcare solutions that impact millions of lives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 10+ years of progressive experience in software development with a focus on data engineering
• Proficiency in building and maintaining secure, end-to-end data systems and services
• Hands-on experience with Golang, Python, PostgresDB, and MongoDB
• Strong SQL skills, including writing maintainable queries and understanding advanced functions
• Deep understanding of algorithms and efficient data structures
• Experience working through all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle
• Excellent critical thinking, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Strong ownership mentality, capable of managing core logic of mission-critical systems
• Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Looker, Snowflake, and dbt is a plus
• Experience within the health-tech sector is preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend data services and API platforms for multiple client-facing applications
• Collaborate with product and analytics teams to enhance data quality, governance, and security
• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines using Golang and Python
• Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes for performance and reliability
• Document data systems, workflows, and processes comprehensively
• Integrate diverse data sources including core applications, CRM, inventory systems, and more
• Work closely with remote development and QA teams to review implementations and resolve platform queries
• Deeply understand complex business processes and end-user needs, translating them into technical solutions
• Develop validation frameworks, monitor results, and iteratively improve data processes
• Ensure all code is performant, reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable
