About The Role
The Lead Machine Learning Engineer (Enterprise Platforms Technology) at Capital One is a pivotal role responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable machine learning solutions that drive business value. As a key member of an Agile team, you will focus on productionizing machine learning applications and ensuring their high availability and performance at scale. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams including Data Science, Operations, and Data Engineering to create innovative ML models and infrastructure. You will be instrumental in shaping the architecture of ML systems, making informed decisions on model deployment, and maintaining models in production environments. Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in designing and building data-intensive solutions with distributed computing
- At least 4 years of programming experience with Python, Scala, or Java
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in building, scaling, and optimizing machine learning systems
- Proven experience with industry-recognized ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, Dask, Spark, or TensorFlow
- Experience developing production-ready data pipelines for ML models
- Strong understanding of ML modeling techniques, data preparation, hyperparameter tuning, and model validation
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Leadership experience in managing and mentoring teams
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver machine learning models and components that address real-world business problems in collaboration with Product and Data Science teams
- Make informed decisions on ML infrastructure, including model selection, data, features, and training processes
- Write, test, and validate application code to solve complex problems, automate deployment, and ensure system robustness
- Collaborate within Agile teams to create and enhance software enabling advanced big data and ML applications
- Retrain, monitor, and maintain ML models in production environments to ensure optimal performance
- Leverage cloud-based architectures and platforms to deploy ML models at scale efficiently
- Construct and optimize data pipelines to support ML workflows
- Implement CI/CD practices, including automation, testing, and monitoring, to facilitate reliable deployment
- Ensure code security, model governance, and adherence to Responsible and Explainable AI principles
- Utilize programming languages like Python, Scala, or Java to develop scalable ML solutions
