About the role/ Experience required:

The Principal DevOps Engineer (EL2) operates under broad direction to lead highly complex initiatives that drive quality outcomes. This requires a high level of autonomy and expertise, engaging in advanced problem-solving and issue management within the organization’s core functions. The role will involve making strategic decisions and providing high-level advice and support to senior leadership.

You will collaborate closely with key business stakeholders and local full-stack team to support and enhance project development. You are also responsible for managing critical internal and external stakeholder relationships, representing, and negotiating on behalf of the client to promote the agency’s objectives across various forums. The role is required to create and maintain SAS Visual Investigator data models, workflows, entities and rules to support investigative case management.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Leading the design, development, deployment, and support of the Agency’s Cloud & Data Infrastructure and SAS Visual Investigator platform.
  • Prioritising and managing the work queue to ensure timely delivery of key initiatives.
  • Ensuring that all solutions adhere to integration best practices.
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Playing a key leadership role for all SAS resources, utilising an agile development framework.
  • Engaging with stakeholders and SAS to define project requirements, set priorities, and deliver results, including releases and deployments across environments.

The successful candidate has experience with:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with SAS Visual Investigator as well as AWS infrastructure and services, with proven ability to design, implement, and manage scalable cloud solutions.
  • Develop and customise SAS Visual Investigator data models, workflows, entities and rules to support investigative case management.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform for automating infrastructure provisioning and management. Build and optimize ETL pipelines to ingest structured / unstructured data into the SAS Visual Investigator platform.
  • Integrate external data sources and API's with SAS Visual Investigator for entity resolution, alert generation and case enrichment. Implement CI/CD pipelines and version control for SAS Projects and configuration files.
  • Ability to write and maintain moderately complex code across multiple programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, and Golang.
  • In-depth experience with containerization, cluster deployment, and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring efficient application delivery and management.

Desirable:

  • Experience with database deployment and administration, particularly with Postgres and MySQL, for efficient data management and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency in administering Azure infrastructure, expanding multi-cloud capabilities alongside AWS.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system health, logs and performance using SAS tools.
  • Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault for securing sensitive data and managing secrets across cloud infrastructure.

Location: This role can be based in Brisbane, Sydney, Deakin, Richmond, Geelong, Adelaide & Perth – hybrid. 1 day in office.

Contract terms: 12 month contract + 12 month extension

Security Requirements: Candidates require Australian citizenship along with an active NV1 clearance. Candidates will need to be willing to undergo pre-employment checks which may include, ID and work rights, security clearance verification, and any other client requested checks.
